Brief

New 2025-2026 season campaign production.

Stills & motion assets captured across day of production, on-site at Laguna Beach

Asset direction included wanderlust-inspired lifestyle, food & beverage, location detail frames. Playful yet tasteful direction of talent, reflective of the carefree experience of the Laguna Beach offering.

Motion was captured on the RED Weapon Gemini in 5k, 1.7:1 aspect ratio, allowing for both landscape and cropped portrait deliverables for usage across digital channels. Post-production utilised a specific texture and colour palette to emulate 8mm & 16mm motion picture film (Kodak Vision 3 250D and 200T).

Stills were shot using 35mm colour negative film using the Nikon F5, with Kodak Gold 200 and Ilford HP5 stocks. Following a test shoot with Kodak Gold 200 on the property, the client requested the usage of 35mm for all stills moving forward, reflective of the specific aesthetic choices made for the outlet.

Effective hospitality marketing exists on a knife edge. In a world of highly-polished properties, with the best this and the most exquisite that, it is very easy to look exactly the same as everyone else.

On one side of the blade, you have the mundane: clean, wide shots of the property, facilities, rooms. Pretty, yes; but devoid of human experience.

Therein lies the secret sauce on the other side of the delicate edge - showcasing your property or outlet in such a way that the customer can feel the emotion and connection that they will enjoy while experiencing your offering for yourselves.

Assets that we create with Laguna Beach are directed carefully to employ exactly that: a feeling. You picture yourself walking through gently lapping waves at sunset, beating the heat with a crisp rosé; condensation rolling down the glass from the ice. Your favourite cocktail is the espresso martini? Great; you can enjoy a fresh, delightfully smooth version as you listen to the breeze rush through the hanging fabrics and gently sway the grass in the pottery in front of you, the gentle melody of house music keeping you grounded.

Utilising 35mm film and emulation during post-production allows our assets to hold such sensations. Film is visceral; you can hold it in your hand and see the unique textures on the negative; it can never be replicated. Of course, shooting emulsion is a luxury and not all productions will have this method available - and that is totally ok. What is absolutely crucial, however, is capturing the experience, emotion and human element of the property and communicating what the customer can expect to explore for themselves.

Such a feeling can be expected at a property that values showcasing their offering creatively and authentically through high-quality, experiential assets. Laguna Beach & Taverna does this very well.
